A cat-sized apartment: environmental enrichment

A bored indoor cat is not a calm cat: it's a cat at risk of stress, excess weight and unwanted behaviours. The good news is you don't need a huge home, you need a home designed vertically.

Shelves, tall scratching posts and a reachable wardrobe top are worth more than ten toys on the floor: from above, cats survey their territory and feel safe. Add at least one soft hideout per cat in the household, plus one.

Daily predatory play is the other pillar: two ten-minute wand sessions, letting them "catch" the prey at the end, release energy and prevent ankle ambushes. Rotate toys weekly to keep them interesting.

Complete the picture with bowls and litter trays in quiet, separate spots, water away from food and, if your cat enjoys it, fresh cat grass safely on the balcony. Small touches, a big difference in everyday wellbeing.
